History of Brasenose College AFC

Brasenose were the dominant force in college football in the inter-war period winning Cuppers 11 times in that period, and a further two times in 1946 and 1948. After that, there was a long wait as Brasenose failed to win the trophy again until last year's 4-0 triumph over St Anne's in the final. Brasenose's tally of 14 Cuppers victories is only bettered by Oriel with 16. Despite this rich tradition, Brasenose's recent past is decidedly mediocre, indeed the Cupper's title last season was the first trophy the club had won since claiming the first division title in 1986/7 however this may be set to change. Since taking the third and final promotion place to the Premier division on the last day of the 2004/05 season with a 1-0 victory over Trinity they have established themselves in the top flight finishing 4th in their first season and 3rd last year, although they were a massive 15 points adrift of second placed New and only 2 points above relegated Keble. Possibly the performance of last season came in the Cuppers semi-final 2-0 victory over hot favourites Worcester, the only time since 2004/05 that Worcester have failed to score in a game.
